As we wrap up the month of July, shimmers of a gold, and a blue crab playfully making a grip on some stylish jewelry chains. Today I'm sharing with you a few of my favorite everyday-go-to chains. The style you choose is really all about preference and so finding the look and weave of a chain that you absolutely love to wear, becomes a staple, and with proper care, you can enjoy for many years.
Versatile, functional and aesthetic, jewelry chains wear beautifully alone or can be layered to hold a precious charm or pendant.
Mixing and matching different chain styles and lengths can create a unique and personalized look. Experiment with combining delicate and wider chains or layering chains of varying textures to add a touch of depth and dimension.
STYLE
Singapore Chains: With it's multi-twisted interwoven links, this delicate looking chain really creates an extra sparkle around the neck.
Box Chains: Square links create a sleek and modern look, one of my favorites and a pretty durable chain overall.
Rope Chains: With twisted links that mimic a rope, solid rope chains are durable and smooth to the touch.
Wheat Chains: Having a tight braid weave, these chains stand out with a sleek and elegant look.
Cable Chains: Simple and classic, these chains consist of uniform oval or round links. A very popular style that goes well with a variety of pendants.
WIDTH
You can find the width of a chain starting at about .85mm up to 6mm+. Although a chain starting at 1mm seems fairly thin, a solid gold chain between 1.1mm to 1.8mm is usually durable enough, yet thin enough not to over power a charm or pendant up to quarter size. To balance out the look of chunky pendants or pieces that are set with larger center stones, a chain with a little more width, and metal, will balance out the look, from 2mm to 3mm.
When looking to purchase a chain, a SOLID chain vs HOLLOW chain is generally more durable and less prone to denting, bending, or breaking. They can withstand more wear and tear, making them a better choice for daily wear and easier to repair if they get damaged, as there is more material to work with.
LENGTH
16 inches: This length usually sits at the collarbone and sits nicely for higher necklines.
18 inches: The classic & most popular length for most pendants and compliments a variety of necklines
20 inches: Sitting a little lower on the chest, this length can drape nicely over a high rounded or turtle neckline on a blouse
24 inches: The look of this chain can be worn alone and the length provides a nice drape for an elegant halter top
ANKLETS
Mix and Match : Add charms or layer multiple anklets for a trendy and eclectic look
Pair them with Flats or Heels : Whether you are going for a casual look with sandals or dressing up with heels, anklets add a touch of glam along side your footwear
Beach Vibes : Pair them with your favorite slippers or barefoot for that perfect stroll along the sand.
