A earthy and citrus yellow-to-orange to reddish-orange gemstone, Citrine is part of the Quartz Mineral group. 

  

A hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, this gemstone is available in many sizes and a variety of shapes & cuts.

The color is a result of heating Amethyst 

(the purple variety of quartz) 

Seen together is a bi-color gem called 

Ametrine.

The Reddish-Orange color variation is often referred to as Madeira Citrine.
